National Underwear Day: Celebrating Boxers, Briefs, Thongs & Granny Panties

It's time to get personal. Aug. 5 celebrates those unmentionable garments we slip on first thing in the morning and the last thing we take off in the evening. It's National Underwear Day, an annual event launched in 2003 by underwear retailer, Freshpair.

Whether you prefer boxers, briefs, thongs or granny panties, Aug. 5 is all about intimate apparel. Did you know that nearly one quarter of American men own a lucky pair of undies and married men change their skivvies twice as often as their single counterparts? And for the record, 40 percent of men prefer briefs while 25 percent prefer boxers, according to Freshpair.

Today is the perfect excuse to go through your "drawers" and toss out those holey, stained and stretched out skivvies. It’s time to give those tighty whities the old heave-ho even if they are your favorite pair! Happy National Underwear Day!
