National Drink Beer Day: A Beer a Day Could Keep Doctors Away

Get ready to raise your glasses, America. Sept. 28 is National Drink Beer Day in the U.S.A! Whether you call it Drink Beer Day or National Drink Beer Day, this annual event is dedicated to beer lovers and weekend warriors across the country.

Health Benefits of Drinking Beer

When it comes to alcoholic beverages and health, red wine usually gets all the good buzz. But beer lovers may be happy to know, a beer a day may be good for you, too. According to recent studies, researchers have discovered that drinking a beer a day may reduce the risk of kidney stones by more than 40 percent. Another study found folks who consume one or two beers a day had a higher bone density level than those who did not drink. Plus, women who drink three to five beers a week have a lower risk for rheumatoid arthritis. Beer may also help prevent Alzheimer’s by blocking the accumulation of aluminum which is often linked to the disease. Beer may also be good for your heart. Like wine, beer can lower the bad cholesterol while increasing the good HDL cholesterol, keeping blood clots at bay. Who knew a beer a day could help keep that doctor at bay?

While some believe consuming one beer a day may lower your risk of certain ailments, it is important to remember that alcohol affects people differently. Like most things in life - moderation is key.

Cheers to a great tasting beer!
