International Stout Day: Cheers!

If you need a little something to whet your whistle or an added incentive to get you into the holiday “spirit,” get ready to raise your glasses - or pints! Nov. 6 is International Stout Day.

Whether you consider yourself a novice, weekend warrior or connoisseur, today is all about stout, a deep, dark, frothy ale that dates back to the 18th century. Traditionally made with roasted malts or barley and combined with hops and yeast, today’s stouts are available in a wide variety of flavors and hues including milk stouts, Russian Imperial, dry, Porter, coffee and even oyster stouts.
