Small Business Saturday

As shoppers are finding the best bang for their holiday bucks during the annual Black Friday sales extravaganza, another special shopping day of the year is also getting quite a bit of buzz. Small Business Saturday (SBS) is an annual holiday observed on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, right in the middle of the popular Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping events.

Small Business Saturday, launched in 2010 by American Express, celebrates and supports small businesses across the nation. Each year, businesses all over the country participate in the annual event by offering a variety of special deals and discounts, free products and/or food and drink and holiday goodies at bottom dollar prices!

Small Business Saturday reminds people to stop and shop at their local mom-and-pop stores on Main Street. Not only is Small Business Saturday good for small businesses, it’s also good for the community as well.

Often considered the “backbone of our economy,” small businesses not only offer great products and services, but also create jobs. When you enjoy a romantic dinner with your significant other, purchase a lovely piece of handmade jewelry or that one-of-a-kind something-or-other, the money spent at your local brick-and-mortar store directly benefits your community. Shopping small can make a great big impact.
