World Cancer Day
While many holidays honor special people, historical events, ingenious inventions and momentous occasions, some special days are instrumental in raising awareness about various issues and causes. Feb. 4 is World Cancer Day (WCD), an annual event observed around the world where governments, organizations, businesses and individuals work together to help raise awareness against cancer.
The annual observance also shines the spotlight on the importance of early prevention and detection while dispelling common misconceptions and myths about cancer.
Each year, hundreds of campaigns, fundraisers, walks, festivals and educational events take place worldwide. Monumental landmarks, like the Empire State Building in New York City, will light up in blue and orange, the official colors of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), the organizer of WCD.
Screening and early detection saves lives. While great strides have been made over the years, the fight continues. Please show your support and join in on the fight against cancer.
