Viagra Day

When it comes to holidays, March 27 celebrates a few non-traditional occasions. Besides National Joe Day and Quirky Country Music Song Titles Day, March 27 also celebrates a little blue pill that has made quite a big "bang" in couples' lives. It's Viagra Day, an annual event that commemorates a top-selling prescription from Pfizer, Inc.

On March 27, 1998, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Sildenafil, commonly known as Viagra, the oral medication that is known worldwide for treating impotence, the inability to get or keep an erection. Originally made to treat high blood pressure, the medication was found to help blood flow to other parts of the body in as little as 30 to 60 minutes.

Viagra has had enormous success. The medication made about $1 billion in sales in its first year on the market! In 2010, Viagra had nearly $2 billion in sales. Other companies took note and similar drugs soon followed.

If you or someone you love has lost a little spring in his step, Erectile Dysfunction (ED), is no laughing matter....
