Tell a Story Day
Once upon a time, there was a special day of the year dedicated to telling stories. Long ones, short ones, silly ones or true ones - it's a special day of the year where all kinds of stories are recanted in homes, libraries and schools all across the nation. April 27 is Tell a Story Day in America.
While the origins of this "holiday" are unknown, it's purpose is pretty clear. Whether you prefer the tallest of tales, wittiest limericks or mysterious who-done-its, today is the day to share your story with friends, family or co-workers and paint a picture with words. Yessir, it's story time in the good ole' U.S.A.
Taking a stroll down memory lane never gets old. Listening to grandma retell the story of how she met your gramps, or hearing just how wonderful you were as a child from dear old mom or how your dad's practical joke on a friend almost landed him in the slammer, are all types of stories we love to hear again and again. While some of them remain the same, some tend to take on a life of their own after a few years have gone by. But regardless how they change or remain the same, sharing stories is a personal way to reminisce about days-gone-by, to learn about our past and to form a bond with others that are near-and-dear to our hearts.
How long has it been since you....
