National Vanilla Ice Cream Day

OK - here's the scoop. If you love food holidays, go grab a fork - and spoon. July 23 is not only National Hot Dog Day (which means FREE hot dogs) and Gorgeous Grandma Day, it is also National Vanilla Ice Cream Day! So get ready to scream for ice cream!

While the actual "inventor" of ice cream is unknown, ice cream goes way, way, way back. It’s believed Alexander the Great enjoyed a frozen treat made out of snow and ice mixed with honey and nectar. And Nero Claudius Caesar enjoyed snow flavored with fruit and juice. Marco Polo returned to Italy after a trip to the east with a recipe that resembled sherbet.

In honor of National Vanilla Ice Cream Day, why not whip up one or two cool and creamy treats to eat?
