National Root Beer Float Day

If you need a little somthing to whet your whistle, go grab your spoon - and/or straw. Hip hip hoooray - it's National Root Beer Float Day in the USA!

While the origins of this annual “holiday” are unknown, today is dedicated to the deliciously refreshing combination of root beer and creamy ice cream. Legend has it that Cripple Creek Brewing owner, Frank Wisner, “invented” the root beer float back in 1893 when he combined a scoop of vanilla ice cream with Myers Avenue Red root beer. And the rest, as they say, is history!

Americans also celebrate a variation of the root beer float on National Black Cow Day. In honor of National Root Beer Float Day, why not whip up one or two of the following root beer float recipes? They’ll be sure to float your boat! And speaking of beer - be sure to celebrate a beer-inspired holiday while you are at it!
