National Ass Day

If you’re a fan of this column, you know we celebrate all kinds of holidays. A special day of the year is here and folks are ready to celebrate the occasion – no ifs, ands or “butts” about it! Don’t get left “behind”, folks. Oct. 17 is National Ass Day in the U.S.A!

While the origins of this “holiday” are unknown, this bootilicious event celebrates the derriere. It seems everywhere you turn these days, bodacious bums are in the news. From Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Pippa Middleton, Sofia Vergara, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Iggy Azalea, curvaceous Gluteus Maximus’ are front-and-center in celeb photos, hot-and-steamy videos, songs and flicks. So what is up with men’s fascination with badonkadonks?

According to some, evolution may be to blame. Pairing your genes with someone “who has genes that code for health and vitality and fertility” are key. That prized hourglass shape means a gal is “single and ready to mingle.” A narrow waist and wide hips means “if a woman has a narrow waist, she’s not pregnant. And if she has broad hips it means that the underlying skeletal morphology is probably such that she’d be able to have a relatively unencumbered childbirth.”

Today is the day to embrace the booty, celebrate the junk in the trunk and flaunt the backside. Happy National Ass Day!
