National Hot Dog Day: Hot Diggity Dawg!
Let's be "frank," shall we? When it comes to special "howlidays," this one is a real "wiener!" July is going to the dogs! Literally! It's National Hot Dog Day, an annual food holiday that takes place during the dog days of summer. In fact, the entire month of July is dedicated to the dawg - its National Hot Dog Month! Hot diggity dawg!
While some people and many holiday calendars celebrate National Hot Dog Day on July 23, the President of the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council (NHDSC) reports the official observation is held on the third Wednesday in July! Now that we've cleared that up!!!
Whether you prefer yours in a bun, on the run, baked or hot off the grill, one thing’s for certain – Americans love their dawgs. Hot dogs, franks and/or wieners are the perfect summer-time sandwich no matter where you eat them. While the name of the actual product is often used interchangeably, franks are typically comprised of all-beef while wieners typically contain pork.
In honor of the annual event, some establishments around the country will be servin' up special hot dog deals and frank freebies. Happy National Hot Dog Day!
