National Tequila Day: Grab a lime, salt & tickle your tastebuds with tequila

National Tequila Day, tequila, holidays, holidailys, cocktails

Have you heard the big buzz? If you're in the mood for a little something to whet your whistle, you’re in luck. A very special beverage holiday is hours away and thirsty Americans are ready to celebrate! Get ready to raise your glass, America! July 24 is National Tequila Day in the U.S.A! While the origins of this annual event are unknown, who needs an excuse to get into the holiday "spirit?"

Tequila, touted as North America’s “oldest distilled spirit, " is produced from the juices of Mexico’s blue agave plant – a relative of the lily family. Tequila must be fermented and distilled with at least 51 percent of agave juice, although the best tequilas are produced with 100 percent blue agave.

In honor of National Tequila Day, some restaurants, pubs and bars around the country will be offering tequila tastings, celebrations and deliciously refreshing drink specials in honor of the occasion. Get ready to grab a lime and salt shaker – it’s time to tickle your taste buds! Cheers!

Today is also Amelia Earhart Day.
