Creepy Halloween Movies
Halloween – Years ago, then six-year-old Michael Myers murdered his older sister and was sentenced to a sanitarium. Myers escapes and returns to the scene of the crime just in time to terrorize the town in this 1978 John Carpenter film. Donald Pleasence and a young Jamie Lee Curtis stars.
The Exorcist – This 1973 award-winning movie has got to be one of the scariest flicks of all time. Young Linda Blair plays a deeply disturbed 12-year-old girl. With buckets of vomit and a few spinning heads, the girl’s mother,played by Ellen Burstyn, calls in an exorcist for help as a last resort.
Carrie – Sissy Spacek stars in this classic 70s thriller directed by Brian De Palma. Spacek, who is brilliant as Carrie White, unleashes her special powers when things go horribly wrong at the prom. Piper Laurie plays Carrie’s overbearing and down-right disturbed mom and Betty Buckley plays Miss Collins. Young John Travolta, Amy Irving, William Katt round out the cast.
The Shining – Here’s Johnny! Jack Nicholson stars in this Stephen King thriller that takes place in a creepy hotel. Chances are pretty good you’ll always remember the phrase “Redrum” once you see this Stanley Kubrick film. Shelley Duvall and Scatman Crothers also star.
Nightmare on Elm Street – This is the movie that started the Freddy Krueger phenom. A young Johnny Depp made his movie debut in this 1984 Wes Craven slasher film.
Psycho – The late Anthony Perkins plays creepy Norman Bates in this 1960 classic film. Janet Leigh and Vera Miles also star.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre –You will never look at a chainsaw the same way again! Gunnar Hansen stars as the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface.
Amityville Horror – Based on a true story, 1979 movie stars Rod Steiger, Margot Kidder and James Brolin.
Poltergeist – This Steven Spielberg film stars Craig T. Nelson and JoBeth Williams. Sadly, young Carol Anne, who played young Heather O’Rourke, died tragically in 1988 at the age of 12, while on hiatus from filming Poltergeist III.
Saw – This 2004 film is guaranteed to creep you out and have you on the edge of your seat! Serial killer “Jigsaw” has been sure been busy! Danny Glover and Cary Elwes star.
The Ring – A young journalist is hot on the trail of a mysterious video tape that is supposed to cause death to all who watch it. This 2002 movie stars Naomi Watts and Brian Cox.
Sixth Sense – Bruce Willis, Toni Collette, Donnie Wahlberg and young Haley Joel Osment star in this “I see dead people” flick.
The Hitcher – This 80s film will defiantly change your mind about picking up hitchhikers! Rutger Hauer, C. Thomas Howell and Jennifer Jason Leigh star.

Rocky Horror Picture Show – Ok, so this movie may not be considered creepy, but you just can’t celebrate Halloween without the Rocky Horror Picture Show. This cult classic is just plain fun! Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick and Meat Loaf star in this 1975 musical film.
