Daylight Saving Time Ends: It's Time to change clocks and fall back

After another successful Halloween holiday season has come and gone, it’s hard to believe, it’s almost time. Standard Time, that is! As the weather turns cooler and the days become shorter, another Daylight Saving Time (DST), sometimes referred to as Daylight Savings Time or Summer Time, is coming to an end.

Each spring, we move the clocks forward an hour. But in the fall, we move the clocks back an hour. Confused? If it’s 8:00 p.m., you’ll move the clock back one hour to 7:00 p.m. And although we have to adjust all the clocks in the house, car, office as well as all those gadgets, moving the clocks back an hour means we get one extra hour of sleep! Hooray!

Just in case you have trouble remembering which way to move the clocks, this famous little ditty from long ago that coincides with the season, may help – “Spring Forward, Fall Back.

Change Your Batteries

Moving the clocks is also when many experts suggest changing your batteries! The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission(CPSC), reminds consumers to change the batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors when adjusting the clocks.

Fresh batteries in alarms are essential to keeping your alarm working and on guard to protect you and your family." Homes with no smoke alarms or smoke alarms that do not work account for approximately two-thirds of fire deaths in the home. Those simple and affordable steps could save a life!
