Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction: Did Phil see his shadow on Groundhog Day?

Have you heard the big weather news? A highly anticipated event just took place in a small Pennsylvania town. Feb. 2 is Groundhog Day, an annual holiday that celebrates Punxsutawney Phil, a very special, one-of-a-kind and totally legendary rodent. And the question remains - did he or didn't he?

Known for his super-natural abilities to predict the weather, Punxsutawney Phil emerges from the confines of his comfy home each year on Feb. 2 after a long winter’s nap as thousands of humans look on. Ever since his first official journey to Gobbler’s Knob on this day back in 1887, Punxsutawney Phil has been predicting the weather. Despite the fact the furry critter holds no official degree and is not a certified meteorologist, Phil has been predicting the weather with 100 percent accuracy! (Although some nay-saying humans believe his accuracy rate is much lower.) Weighing about 20 pounds and nearly 130 years old, Phil drinks a magical elixir each year to help him live an even longer life (even though granola bars are his food of choice.)

As millions of curious and weary Americans crawl out of bed, the big moment has finally arrived and it's time for the big reveal. Early this morning, Punxsutawney Phil left his comfy confines and made his grand appearance after being summoned from his burrow and greeted by his handlers.

So, what's it going to be, Phil? Please say it ain’t “snow” this year!

“Hear ye, hear ye, hear ye......

Phil did not see his shadow! Hip hip hooray - spring is on the way!
