National Picnic Day: How to Pack for a Picnic
It’s time to get out of the house and enjoy Mother Nature. Grab a blanket, a basket and a few goodies – it’s National Picnic Day! Not to be confused with National Panic Day, this annual holiday takes place every April 23, the day after Earth Day.
While the origins of this particular holiday are unknown, picnics are about good food, fine drinks and fabulous company. Whether you visit a National Park or a secluded meadow in your neck of the woods, today’s the day to turn off those electronic gadgets and stop and smell the roses. And if the weather refuses to cooperate – no worries. You can have an intimate picnic indoors, minus the view and the bugs of course.
How to Properly Pack for a Picnic
Picnics don’t need to be elaborate affairs that require careful planning and a wad of cash. They can be as simple, romantic or as elegant as you’d like.
Depending on the menu, a blanket or/and picnic table is a must.
You’ll need a picnic basket to transport the goodies and a cooler and/or ice packs to keep things nice and cold.
If you plan on cooking something on the barby, bring along a portable grill or make sure a grill is available.
Don’t forget the matches or lighter!
You’ll need proper utensils, napkins and wipes.
Please be sure to clean up after you leave!
Oh – and don’t forget the sunscreen!
