National Honesty Day - No lie

April 30 is National Honesty Day – honest engine! Since April begins with April Fool’s Day and April 4th was Tell a Lie Day, it only makes sense to end the month with National Honesty Day, right?

The annual “holiday” was created by M. Hirsh Goldberg, author and former Maryland governor’s press secretary. Goldberg’s book appropriately titled, “The Book of Lies: Schemes, Scams, Fakes and Frauds That Have Changed the Course of History and Affect Our Daily Lives” was published in 1990.

United States President’s George Washington and Abraham Lincoln are known for their honesty.Whether a little white lie to spare someone’s feelings or a great big whopper, we all know lying is wrong although most people fib from time-to-time. National Honesty Day provides the perfect opportunity for parents and educators to discuss the value of honesty with children.

Today is also National Raisin Day, Hairstyle Appreciation Day and International Jazz Day.
