National Shrimp Day

As far as food holidays are concerned, so far this month, we’ve celebrated Cinco de Mayo, National Beverage Day and National Have a Coke Day. But unlike the other food holidays, this special day isn’t about quenching your thirst or whetting your whistle. May 10 is dedicated to filling your tummy with loads of deliciousness – it’s National Shrimp Day!

While the origins of this annual holiday are unknown, this bite-sized shellfish is perfect for any occasion. Shrimp can be prepared many ways including grilled, fried, sautéed, deep-fried or baked and enjoyed in all sorts of delicious dishes. This delightful seafood is available throughout the year and can be purchased fresh or frozen, shelled or unshelled.

In honor of National Shrimp Day, why not try one or two shrimp-inspired dishes?
