German Chocolate Isn't German

Despite its name, German Chocolate Cake was not “invented” in Germany. It’s actually an American creation typically made with sweet baking chocolate, coconut and pecans. Sam German, an employee of Baker’s Chocolate Company, created a special type of sweet baking chocolate bar back in 1852. The company named the concoction after him, Baker's German’s Sweet Chocolate. Years later, in 1957, a woman from Texas sent a recipe using the German’s Sweet Chocolate to a Dallas newspaper and the rest, as they say, is history.

If you're in the mood for a chocolate sweet treat to eat, look no further! Why not try one or two of the German Chocolate Cake recipes listed below in honor of the annual event?
