Chicken Wings History

While wings are all the rage today, it wasn’t all that long ago when chicken wings were destined for the soup pot or considered throw-away meat. But the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York, changed all that.

Anchor Bar’s bartender Dominic Bellissimo challenged his mom and co-owner of the bar, to whip up a different kind of late-night snack for his pals back in 1964. Teressa just happened to have some extra meaty wings on hand and tossed them in the fryer. She added a spicy “secret sauce” and served them with a delicious blue-cheese dressing and celery on the side. Can you say "winning?"
