Happy Be Late for Something Day: Quotes and sayings about being late

When it comes to special occasions, September 5 is not your traditional, run-of-the-mill holiday. It’s Be Late for Something Day! Although the origins of this wacky “holiday” are unknown, you can bet your bottom dollar the “inventor” of this holiday was probably someone who had a problem with punctuality!

For many Americans, there simply is not enough time in the day to get everything done. Between the career and deadlines, the kids and all their activities, church, traffic, the never-ending to-do list at home and various family obligations, chances are pretty good you may run a little behind every so often. While being fashionably late may be acceptable from time-to-time, being habitually late to work, school or for that all-important job interview, can be more than problematic.

While being habitually late is not a recommended trait, Be Late for Something Dayreminds us all to slow down a little and enjoy the things life has to offer. Why not hit the snooze button one extra time this morning and get a couple more minutes of shut-eye? And instead of scarfing down breakfast and scalding your tongue on a hot cup of Joe, why not take a moment or two before your day begins and really enjoy that second cup of coffee? Read the paper, put your feet up and enjoy the peace and quiet before the insanity begins?
