National Sandwich Day

Hip hip hooray - Nov.3 is National Sandwich Day! John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich, is credited for "inventing” the sandwich back in 1762. Legend has it that because the Earl wanted to eat with one hand and gamble with the other hand, he instructed his servants to serve his meal between two slices of bread. The Earl of Sandwich was born on November 3rd, and folks have been enjoying sandwiches ever since.

Whether you prefer more traditional sandwiches like peanut butter and jelly, bacon, lettuce and tomato, gourmet style or downright wacky, today is the perfect time to try out a new sandwich recipe.

Today is also (National) Housewife Day.
