Leap Year Day

Between the kids, careers, never ending housework, pets and school, there just isn't enough time in the day to get everything done. If you'd like a little more time in your busy schedules, you’re in luck! 2020 is Leap Year. Instead of 365 days, you get an extra day this year!

Leap Day, that extra day also known as intercalary day, occurs almost every four years (certain years are not Leap Years). Because the Earth completes its orbit around the sun in about 365 ¼ days, Leap Day helps the calendar and the solar year keep in sync. Julius Caesar created the special day thousands of years ago, in 45 BC. Leap Day is observed on February 29th.
