Go nuts for National Pistachio Day

February 26th is a great day to go nuts! It’s National Pistachio Day. Did you know these delicious and nutritious nuts actually grow on trees? It can take up to 10 years for a pistachio tree to mature. And pistachios are not naturally red – red dye is added to them.

Most of the pistachios grown in the United States are grown in California. According to the California Pistachio Commission, 400 million pounds of pistachios are harvested in California each year. Now that’s a lot of nuts! Today is also For Pete's Sake Day!
