Happy Customer Service Day: Customer satisfaction is key to success

When it comes to holidays, Jan. 17 is not only Ben Franklin Day and National Hot Buttered Rum Day, it is also Customer Service Day, sometimes referred to as Get to Know Your Customers Day.

Today, the customer really is king! Whether you believe the customer is always right or not so much, this annual holiday serves as a reminder to America's businesses and organizations on the importance of providing good service to all its customers. Besides relying on tried-and-true methods of the past, today also provides an incentive to explore new avenues of keeping the customer happy.

Customer satisfaction is critical to the success of a business. While word of mouth has always been important, complaints and criticism on social media can quickly damage a business's reputation. On the other hand, positive feedback from customers via social networking can be beneficial to the business.

Customer Service Day is also the perfect time to thank your employees for all their hard work in helping your business succeed!
