Happy National Grouch Day: 10 Best Movie Grumps & Grouches

Whether you live with one, go to school with one or happen to work with one, chances are good you probably know someone who is, well, a habitual grouch. It seems there is always that one person who is constantly irritable, grumpy and just plain miserable to be around!

October 15 is a day grouches can really appreciate - or maybe not! It’s National Grouch Day, an annual “holiday” created in honor of everyone’s favorite Sesame Street grump - Oscar the Grouch.

How to Celebrate National Grouch Day

Let’s be honest. While we all have our bad days, habitual grumps rarely celebrate much of anything. And chances are good, today will be no different. But hey, it’s worth a shot, right?

  • Why not send that special sour-puss an over-the-top, happy card to let them know you are thinking of them, anonymously of course.

  • Why not whip up a batch of Oscar the Grouch-themed cookies? Not that that will cheer them up or anything.

  • Scowl and frown all day long!

  • If you live with one and you feel particularly daring, give that grouch an extra big hug today!

  • If you are generally a happy person, why not turn the other cheek and do nothing but moan and groan all day long. Who knows, maybe he or she will get the hint?

  • Play Bobby McFerrin’s hit song “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” over and over and over again!

  • And just for grins, be sure to remind that special grump in your life that Sweetest Day is coming up!

In honor of National Grouch Day, why not make it movie night and watch one or two of the following films starring the world's grouchiest grumps. n honor of National Grouch Day, why not make it movie night and watch one or two of the following films starring the world's grouchiest grumps.
