International Day of Peace: Promoting peace around the world

Sept. 21 is International Day of Peace, also known as Peace Day. Established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly with Resolution 36/67, the annual event is devoted to “commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples.”

International Peace Day provides the perfect opportunity for people, communities, organizations, businesses and nations to create and encourage practical acts of peace while encouraging worldwide peace. In honor of the yearly event, millions of people around the world will participate in a wide variety of activities including town meetings, parades and all sorts of celebrations. With a different theme every year, this year’s theme is "Sustainable Peace for a Sustainable Future.”

Working together, we can make the world a much better and more peaceful place. Today is also World Gratitude Day!
