It's National Nut Day - Go nuts for nuts!
If you can relate to the jingle – “Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don’t” – today may just be your lucky day! October 22 is National Nut Day! While the origins of this annual “holiday” are unknown, nuts have been eaten for centuries. In fact, walnuts are believed to be the oldest tree food there is, dating back to 7000 B.C.
Go Nuts for Nuts!
Whether you prefer cashews, walnuts, macadamias, almonds, peanuts, pistachios or pecans, nuts are delicious treats that come in all sorts of shapes and sizes.
Whether you eat them as a snack or add them to a meal, nuts are good for you too (unless you have an allergy to nut products.) Packed with protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, nuts also contain the “good” kind of fat, about 85 percent on average.
