My Bucket's Got a Hole In It Day
While the lawn, garden and flowers are probably looking pretty good right about now, a nice cool drink, plant food and some fertilizer may be in order because warmer weather typically means the ole' yard needs a little T.L.C, right? Have you ever had a hose that sprung a leak or was twisted so badly water didn’t flow? Have you ever hauled water back and forth from the ole’ watering hole only to discover half the water was gone before you got to your destination? Yessir - nothin’ is worse than springin’ a leak from the old bucket or hose when you least expect it!
And speaking of leaks - May 30 is Hole in My Bucket Day or My Bucket's Got a Hole In It Day, an annual “holiday” that does not celebrate holey buckets. The event actually celebrates a catchy children’s tune, “There’s a Hole in My Bucket.” Once you hear the song, you probably won’t forget it. While the song does have lyrics, it is often embellished by the singers. (Be sure to watch Dean Martin and pal George Gobel sing their special rendition of the song at the top of this article.)
And just in case you need some refreshment to whet your whistle after haulin’ all that water, today is also National Mint Julep Day.
