National Cheeseburger Day

If you're in the "mooood" for a delicious meal deal, go grab your plate. Sept. 18 National Cheeseburger Day in the U.S.A.

Folks have been enjoying cheeseburgers since they were "invented" back in the 1920s. While there is some debate as to who actually invented the cheeseburger, 16-year-old Lionel Sternberger is often credited as the inventor of the cheesy burger. Some say the teen was working as a short-order cook at a little place on famous Route 66 when he added a slice of cheese to a burger, and the rest, as they say, is history!

Whether you prefer yours grilled or fried, plain or topped with ketchup, mustard, onion and pickles on a sesame seed bun, cheeseburgers are just about as American as mom and apple pie! Each year, numerous businesses, restaurants and pubs across the country will be servin’ up special meal deals in honor of National Cheeseburger Day.
