National Mint Julep Day

As the days get longer and the temperature gets warmer, the end of May celebrates one of America’s most beloved beverages. Today is National Mint Julep Day, an annual “holiday” observed each year on May 30.

The refreshing occasion celebrates that special southern drink traditionally made with just a few simple ingredients - bourbon whiskey, fresh mint, sugar and crushed ice. While there is some debate as to who actually “invented” the Mint Julep, folks have been sippin’ on these delicious drinks for centuries.

Whether you’re an avid fan or have never tried a julep before, today is the perfect day to enjoy a taste of southern hospitality by trying one or two juleps in honor of the event.

May 30 is also My Bucket's Got a Hole In It Day.
