National Rocky Road Day
In case you haven't heard the "scoop", June 2 is National Rocky Road Day, an annual "holiday" that celebrates the cool and creamy ice cream Americans love to eat! After all, who can resist chocolate ice cream loaded with light and airy marshmallows and chunky almonds?
Rocky Road Ice Cream
Dreyer's Ice Cream founder, William Dreyer, is frequently credited as creating the delicious concoction decades ago. Dreyer wanted to lift the rocky spirits of Americans after the devastating stock market crash in 1929. Dreyer used his wife's sewing scissors to cut up the nuts and marshmallows and added them to her chocolate ice cream and an American classic ice cream flavor was born! It just goes to show you while the road ahead may be rocky, the road we take usually has a few sweet surprises along the way too!
