National Thrift Shop Day: Where Saving Big Bucks Makes Perfect 'Cents"

With a new school year right around the corner, school supplies, books, physicals and new clothes can cost a small fortune for folks already struggling. If you’re searching for a place where the bargains are big and the prices are low, you’re in luck!

National Thrift Shop Day

Aug. 17 is National Thrift Shop Day,sometimes referred to as National Thrift Store Day. This annual “holiday” raises awareness about the ginormous value of second-hand shops. While the origins of this particular holiday are unknown, who needs an excuse to go shopping for a great deal?

With more than 30,000 thrift shops and consignment stores across America, second-hand shops offer affordable prices on just about anything under the sun. While thrift shops may have gotten a bad rap over the years, shoppers from all income levels can find a wide variety of items at rock-bottom prices. From furniture, toys, vintage clothing and kitchenware to antiques and collectibles, chances are pretty good you’ll find what you are looking for at a great price. You won't need to break the bank to find a great deal.

Today is also Black Cat Appreciation Day.
