Oh Canada: It's National Respect Canada Day, Eh!

On the heels of Independence Day and Canada Day, this annual “holiday” serves as important reminder that our neighbors to the north are our important allies and friends. July 15 is National Respect Canada Day, eh!

In case you have never visited Canada, it is so much more than the Royal Canadian Mounties, bears, maple syrup and the Maple Leaf flag. Comprised of 10 provinces and 3 territories, Canada is a beautiful nation with a rich history.

In case you’ve never visited, here’s your chance!

  • Starting out west, British Columbia is known for its majestic mountains, Pacific Ocean views, spectacular scenery and skiing.

  • Bordered by the Canadian Rocky Mountains, Alberta is known for its “pristine lakes, back-country lodges and trophy fishing.”

  • Ontario is the country’s most populous province. Ontario not only offers the fabulous city of Toronto with its towering CN Tower, beautiful lake and scenic cottage country, but the capital of Canada is also located in Ontario – in Ottawa. And by the way, the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, also located in Ontario, really does have a much more spectacular view than the American side!

  • Parlez-vous Francais? Instead of visiting Paris, brush up on your French and drive to the beautiful and quaint Quebec City for some fabulous French cuisine. Old Quebec is one of the most magical cities in North America. Whether you want to ski, visit the Ice Hotel or visit one of the summer festivals, Quebec has something for everyone no matter what the season. . The city’s stunning architecture is a testament to its 400-year heritage. While you’re there, be sure to visit Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre, the “place of miracles” for 350 years. Saint Anne is believed to be the Virgin Mary’s mother, the grandmother of Jesus. While many Quebecers do speak English, French is the native language of Quebec.

  • From sailing and surfing, whale watching and the Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia is one of Canada’s Maritime Provinces.

  • Besides its pristine beaches and golf, Prince Edward Island is also the home of Anne of Green Gables. Experience the island way of life on PEI.

Reminder - Please make sure you bring the proper documentation prior to visiting Canada.
