June 30 is Social Media Day (SMDay.) Launched in 2010 by Mashable, Social Media Day is an annual global event that celebrates the innovative technologies and advances of social media. With a focus on technology, social media and the digital world, Mashable Meetups provide opportunities for folks to connect with other enthusiasts. No matter where you live, millions of web enthusiasts from all over the globe will take part in this year's virtual events and mashups.

Whether we like it or not, social media is impacting the way we communicate, shop, travel, bank and stay in touch with friends and loved ones.
