World Pasta Day: International Celebration of Pasta

One of the most delicious days of the entire year is here and folks around the world are ready to celebrate! Oct. 25 is World Pasta Day, also known as International Pasta Day and/or National Pasta Day. But no matter what you call it, today celebrates pasta of all shapes, sizes and varieties. The annual food holiday has been celebrated around the globe since its launch at the first World Pasta Congress in Rome in 1995.

People have been consuming pasta for generations. While Marco Polo is often credited as “discovering” pasta, it is believed the Chinese first ate pasta thousands of years ago. Whether you prefer spaghetti, tortellini, macaroni or ziti, there are hundreds of shapes and sizes of pasta available today. There are countless ways to make pasta dishes. And besides being affordable and versatile, it is good for you, too. Pasta provides fiber and complex carbohydrates and is low in sodium and cholesterol-free. Pasta also contains other important nutrients as well.

In honor of World Pasta Day, why not whip up a tried-and-true family favorite or a brand new recipe during the international celebration of pasta? Enjoy! And speaking of food - today is also National Greasy Foods Day.
