World Teachers' Day: Celebrating Educators Around the World

A very special occasion that recognizes some of the most important people in our children’s lives is here. It's World Teachers’ Day (WTD), an annual occasion observed each year on Oct. 5.

World Teachers’ Day, created in 1994 by the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), celebrates the amazing men and women around the world who dedicate their lives to educating children. Each year, many countries take part in the annual event by participating in various presentations, activities, exhibitions and public awareness campaigns. WTD recognizes the important work teachers do and their contributions to society. WTD also serves as an important reminder to recognize teachers for the vital services they provide. And with many schools feeling the pinch of tight budget constraints, educators need our support more than ever.

Please take a moment out of your day and say thank you to all the past and present teachers who play pivotal roles in shaping your children’s lives as they grow and prepare them for their future. Today is also National Apple Betty Day and Do Something Nice Day.
