Zzzzzzz. Festival of Sleep Day: Top Tips to Help You Sleep Tight Every Night

While its origins are unknown, Festival of Sleep Day is the perfect time to catch up on a little shut-eye. The amount of sleep we get directly impacts our quality of life.

Getting a good night's sleep also positively affects your mood, memory, learning and creative skills. Getting enough sleep can also reduce your stress levels. Besides better concentration, people who are well-rested look healthier and more attractive. Plus, folks who are well-rested lose more fat than those who are sleep-deprived.

35 percent of Americans get less than seven hours of sleep per night. Insufficient sleep can lead to serious health issues including heart disease, diabetes and obesity. Some believe people who got seven hours of sleep or less were more likely to get sick. Lack of sleep can also contribute to depression. And according to the National Sleep Foundation, not getting enough sleep negatively affects your love life.
